Picnic in the Park

Oh what a day! The Picnic in the Park onSaturday Aug 3rd 2024, was an opportunity for Greystones Cancer Support to say thank you to the local community, without whom we could not continue to offer our support services to those that need us. The day was an outstanding success and exceeded all our expectations – in lovely weather, an enthusiastic and friendly audience enjoyed great entertainment and fun together while picnics were shared and savoured in the park. Anne Ivory, Chair of Greystones and District Cancer support said , “I’d like to thank everyone involved who made this 30 year celebration happen and for showcasing the true meaning of community. It has been a great pleasure working with you all.” The event simply wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication, hard work, enthusiasm and professionalism of the event organiser, our local, Greystones Town Team. Many months of hard work and coordination have gone into the event and we are enormously grateful to them all. There are many others we would like to thank: * Our event sponsors Codling Wind Park and Daly’s SuperValu Greystones * Our event partners Vick’s Cafe and Jokers Takeaway * Greystones Municipal Council for all their support. * Kathleen Kelleher for her advice and guidance. *. Councillor Louise Fenelon-Gaskin for officially opening the event. * Our wonderful MCs – Laura Wood and Victor Evans. * All the performers who made the day so entertaining – on stage and around the park. See next post for all their names! * John McGowan and Greystones Guide for ther wonderful photos – 300+ available on Greystones guide. * All the volunteers who worked from 8am to dusk to set up and manage the day. * Greystones Rugby Club for their generous support. * Greystones Tidy Town for their help before, during and after the event. * All those who bought raffle tickets to support GCS * Everyone who attended and joined in the spirit of the day.

The memories of the Picnic in the Park will stay with us for a long time and reflect all that is good in our community. Thank you from the team at Greystones and District Cancer Support..
