2018 VHI Women’s Mini Marathon

Hello to all our VHI Women’s Mini Marathon Walkers:
Thank you very much for participating in this year’s event for GCS.
We are very grateful and we will now be able to continue our work.

We had 26 wonderful participants this year.
An estimated 30,000 women took part in Dublin.
The Dublin VHI Women’s Mini Marathon is the largest women’s event in the world !!
It was a very hot day and we very much appreciate the extra effort.

Margaret Gerrard and Emer Gerrard were our Fastest Walkers this year !!
They were awarded the Pat Gaffey Memorial Silver Salver.

Mary O’Loughlin received our Special Cup.
The Special Cup is awarded to the person who has greatly helped the Mini Marathon.
Both awards were well deserved and recipients will receive replicas to keep after the engraving.

We are open each day,  Monday to Friday, 9 am to 1 pm,  for sponsorship monies drop off.
We can arrange another time if that is better for you.

We send sincere thanks to those who opened a fundraising page with iDonate.ie.
The company is a good partner for GCS and the money comes straight to our bank account.
We will remind people in our weekly email,  GCS Monday Morning Magic,  that iDonate pages stay open for a while.
If you would find it easier to make a bank transfer,  please let us know and we will send details.

A huge thank you to Clare Hogan and all at East Coast FM for organising women from all over Co. Wicklow.
We appreciate the support and the PR that this county wide effort gave to us.
The team effort allowed participants to still support us directly,  but allowed the county effort to help.
Clare is the producer of Declan Meehan’s Morning Show.
She has been working tirelessly for Co. Wicklow cancer support groups for two years now.
Clare also organises the East Coast FM County Wide Coffee Mornings.

Thank you to Sonia Walsh and Susan Chestnutt for the refreshments,  they were delicious.
And a big round of applause to Delia Barry and Teresa Bradshaw who were on hand to help serve.
We were waited on hand and foot,  what more could you ask for.

Much appreciation goes to Ken Bolger Coaches from Avoca.
The company supplied the coach free of charge.

We were delighted to renew acquaintance with their driver.
Many of us in Greystones well remember Dave Power from Top Crop.
Dave still has that same friendly face and welcoming manner.
He got full marks from all the Mini Marathon passengers.
They all commented on his safe and comfortable driving.

Margaret Traynor from Stepping Online looks after our website for us.
Margaret will have all our photos on our website shortly.
Please be sure to send us your photos from the marathon in Dublin if you would like to  share.
We will ask Margaret to add them to our website.

Thank you,  Margaret,  for your continued help.

Sending renewed appreciation for now and looking forward to see you all next year !!
